Congratulations on entering to race the one hundered forty point six mile distance in California! Exciting isn't it? Now as the euphoria of actually 'getting in' subsides and you begin to recognize the monumental task of getting ready for race day is now before you. No worries. We've got you covered. If you've got 20 weeks and are healthy and eager to train, this is the plan for you!
Athletes using this Hypercat Racing training program to prepare for a long course triathlon should be in good health and cleared by their personal physician to engage in vigorous endurance training.
Your current fitness should be at a level equivalent of the benchmarks below to begin the program:
-Able to swim 1600 yards/meters in a pool workout.
-Able to bike 2 hrs.
-Able to run 60 minutes.
Your plan calls for an average of:
-3 swim sessions per week
-3 bike sessions per week
-3-4 run sessions per week
Your plan has a weekly training volume ranging from 8 to 17 hours.
Equipment required:
-swim goggles
-bike, helmet
-run shoes
-watch
Additional equipment suggested to get the most from your plan:
-heart rate monitor
-cycling computer with cadence function
-stationary or Smart trainer for indoor bike rides
-power meter
